in Santa Cruz, California
Lucie established her private practice in Santa Cruz, California in 1997. On the heels of her work in Youth Services, her clientele consisted of mostly teens in the early years of her practice. Today, it has expanded to include men, women, and couples seeking therapy for a range of issues including relationship challenges, stress management, depression, anxiety, trauma and loss, self-improvement, and more.
Approach
Lucie’s approach is to meet people and help them feel safe in the context of a therapeutic relationship that honors gifts and strengths, as well as challenges. “I believe that we are born with a healthy core and sometimes need help to release layers of accumulated emotional pain and behavioral dysfunction,” says Lucie. “Therapy can feel like combing through emotional tangles leading to a freeing of life force energy previously experienced as heaviness. Becoming excellent at noticing, honoring, and working with emotions connects people better with themselves, with other people, and with life itself.”
...my clients sense that I experience them as essentially healthy, which reinforces the courage required to explore what doesn’t work or feel good.
Lucie incorporates skills and techniques from a variety of theories and modalities, including:
- Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
- Narrative Therapry
- Buddhist Psychology
Learning to explore, tolerate, and accept that which is painful leads to transformation allowing people to embrace new skills and experience more human radiance.
Here are some recent photo's from Lucie's office. Sometimes Wiley the Dog comes for a visit and, of course, the gummie bear jar is always stocked.
